McClellan Overlook Drive happening on Saturday, Sept 21st starting at 1pm.
What/where is McClellan Overlook? The overlook sits southeast of Mt. Saint Helen’s, on a ridge in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, and offers great views back to Mt. Saint Helens. There will be lots of beautiful scenery, a couple of lakes and lots of fun twisty roads to enjoy all along the way. After stopping at the overlook, we ‘ll continue on more great roads until we drop down into the Columbia Gorge at Carson, Washington. We are ending the day with a dinner stop back in Oregon at Famous Dave’s Barbeque in Cascade Station (near PDX). Mmmmmm!
Meeting place is the Clark County Event Center, just north of where I-5 & I-205 merge as you are travelling north. The freeway exit brings you off onto NE 179th St., then go left under the freeway and follow the signs to the event center.
Since we are starting at 1pm, you will need to have already eaten lunch, or bring it along. There will be a couple of breaks, but not many chances for gas or food stops. So make sure your gas tank starts full, and bring a cooler with water and a snack!
140 miles, 3.5 hrs driving time with some designated potty breaks.
Meeting place: Clark County Event Center
Time: 1pm
Things to bring : snacks & drinks, your camera, driving gloves and an appetite & $ for dinner BBQ style!
